Shower Commode WC Chair

The client required a safe, comfortable, and reliable shower, commode, and WC chair to support their daily personal hygiene routine. The chair was required for showering, occasional commode use, and, most importantly, for use over their existing wash-dry toilet. The solution needed to provide excellent postural support while ensuring compatibility with the wash-dry toilet's functions.

As the Freeway range of shower and commode chairs offers a wide variety of customisation options, a comprehensive assessment was essential to ensure the chair was tailored to the client's individual needs.

Easy Care Systems carried out a detailed assessment of the client's mobility, postural support requirements, and transfer needs, followed by a full survey of the areas where the chair would be used. This included assessing doorway widths, threshold heights, turning circles, and the available space within the shower room or wet room to ensure the chair could be maneuvered safely and comfortably.

Particular attention was given to the existing wash-dry toilet. Measurements were taken to confirm compatibility with the toilet's seat height, dimensions, and washing and drying functions, ensuring the chair would allow the client to benefit fully from the wash-dry toilet without compromising safety or performance.

During the assessment, we worked closely with the client, Occupational Therapist, and carers to understand both the client's current and future requirements. Together, we selected the most appropriate chair specification, including the required seating dimensions, support options, castors, footrests, armrests, and any additional accessories needed to maximise comfort, independence, and ease of use.

Following the assessment, Easy Care Systems provided a detailed written quotation outlining the agreed specification and recommended equipment.

Once a purchase order or deposit was received, the chair was manufactured to the agreed bespoke specification before undergoing quality checks prior to delivery.

The completed shower, commode, and wash-dry toilet chair was delivered to Easy Care Systems, where it was inspected to ensure it matched the agreed specification before delivery to the client.

We then contacted the client to arrange a convenient delivery and commissioning appointment. During this visit, our specialist assessor/ engineer carried out the final setup, ensuring the chair fitted correctly over the wash-dry toilet and operated safely within the showering environment.

A full demonstration was provided to the client, carers, and relevant healthcare professionals, covering the chair's features, safe operation, positioning, transfers, cleaning, and routine maintenance. This ensured everyone involved was confident in using the equipment safely and effectively.

The result was a bespoke seating solution that enabled the client to shower safely, use the wash-dry toilet comfortably, and maintain greater independence while reducing the physical demands placed on carers. The project was completed to a high standard, resulting in a satisfied client and a chair that met their individual needs both now and into the future.
