Ceiling Hoist Systems

The Challenge

The client and their carers required a safe and reliable ceiling hoist system to facilitate transfers between key areas within the property, including the bed, bath, wheelchair, and other essential living spaces. The objective was to improve safety, reduce the risk of manual handling injuries, and provide a comfortable and dignified transfer solution for the client.

Our Solution

Easy Care Systems carried out a comprehensive site survey to assess the property's construction and determine whether the ceiling structure was suitable for securely supporting a ceiling hoist system. This assessment is essential to ensure the safety of both the client and their carer’s and to identify the most appropriate installation method.

During the survey, we discussed the client's needs and transfer requirements with the end user and relevant professionals - including the Occupational Therapist, Council Surveyor, and Architect. Together, we determined the most suitable hoisting solution, whether this was a straight-track system, a curved-track system, or an X-Y room coverage system.

Where the existing ceiling construction was not capable of supporting the hoist, we designed an alternative solution incorporating floor support posts and gantry systems to provide a safe and compliant installation.

Following the survey, we produced a detailed written quotation supported by technical drawings, clearly illustrating the proposed ceiling hoist layout and installation design.

Once a purchase order or deposit was received, the project progressed to the installation phase. The customer was contacted to arrange a convenient installation date, and the works were scheduled with our experienced installation team.

The Outcome

The ceiling hoist system was professionally installed on the agreed date in accordance with the approved technical drawings and specification. Installation was completed with minimal disruption to the client and household.

Following installation, the system was fully tested to ensure it operated safely and smoothly. All fixings, track sections, charging points, and lifting functions were checked, and the installation was completed in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations and relevant regulations.

Our engineers provided a full demonstration to the client and carers, explaining the safe operation of the hoist system and answering any questions to ensure they were confident using the equipment.

The completed installation provided a safe, secure, and reliable transfer solution, improving the client's independence and comfort while significantly reducing manual handling risks for carers. The project was delivered to a high standard, resulting in a fully compliant ceiling hoist system and another satisfied customer.
