Geberit Mera Care or Closomat Palma Vita? Choosing the Right Wash & Dry Toilet

This is a question I’m asked constantly when surveying and assessing for wash-dry WCs.
And at every CPD session we host at Easy Care Systems, without fail, someone asks:

“Which one is the best?”

The honest answer is simple:

The best wash & dry toilet is the one that suits the client’s needs.

There isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution. Each user, home layout and long-term requirement is different — and the right choice depends on understanding those needs properly.

Key Things to Consider When Specifying a Wash & Dry Toilet

1. The Environment

Where the toilet will be installed makes a huge difference:

  • Upstairs or downstairs

  • Front or back of the property

  • Accessible for an ambulant user now and for a potential wheelchair user later

  • Space available

  • Whether it’s protected from the shower area

  • How other household members will access or use the WC

2. Activation & Control Features

The Geberit Mera Care and the Closomat Palma Vita offer almost identical core functions — and yes, they both wash, dry and auto-flush.

So why would you choose one over the other?

Cost

This is often the deciding factor.
In the past, the old-style Geberit 8000 was more expensive than the Closomat.
But things have changed — today, their prices are very similar (depending on the add-ons selected for the Closomat).

The Closomat Palma Vita starts at a low base price, but once you add activation features, sensors, height changes, etc., the cost increases.

The Geberit Mera Care comes with all the key features already included, giving users everything they might need now or later.

Naturally, both manufacturers will tell you their toilet is the superior one — and in truth, both are right. Each offers unique strengths depending on the user.

3. A Closer Look at the Pros & Cons

Here are a few examples to illustrate how these differences play out in real-world use.

Closomat Palma Vita

Pros:

  • Strong warm water spray that delivers very effective cleaning

  • Seat height adjustable from 442mm–542mm using 25mm spacers

Cons:

  • Warm water supply is limited and will run cold once the tank empties

  • Water temperature can’t be adjusted by the user

  • Height adjustment is fixed in 25mm increments only

Geberit Mera Care

Pros:

  • Continuous warm water thanks to on-demand heating

  • Oscillating spray pattern improves cleaning coverage

  • Height adjustable from 440mm–560mm with smooth, continuous adjustment (no fixed increments)

Cons:

  • Spray isn’t as powerful as the Closomat

  • Does not include a lid as standard (optional extra)

These are just a few headline features. Both manufacturers offer many small, important details that can be hugely beneficial depending on the client.

So Which One Should You Choose?

The best solution comes from asking the right questions — about the client’s abilities, environment, future needs, and personal preferences.

For some users, the Closomat’s strong spray is ideal.
For others, the Geberit’s continuous warm water or flexible height range is more important.

And don’t forget the “small” things:
after-sales support, servicing, repair turnaround times, and manufacturer warranty. These can make just as much difference as the technical features.

At Easy Care Systems, our advice remains the same:

Choose the wash & dry toilet that meets the client’s needs today — and continues to meet them in the future.
