Geberit Meracare or Closomat Palma Vita?
I get asked this question many times when surveying and assessing for the wash dry WC’s.
At every CPD session held at Easy Care Systems the guaranteed question would be
“Which 1 is the best?”
The answer is very simple…
The best Wash & Dry shower toilet is the 1 that best suits the client’s needs.
Points to consider when thinking of prescribing a Wash & Dry Toilet:
The environment:
Upstairs, down stairs, back or front of the property/accessible for ambulant and future wheelchair user, space availability/ protected from the shower area/ other home WC users
Activation/ Control features:
The Geberit Meracare and the Closomat Palma Vita have almost the same functions.
YES they both Wash & Dry with an auto flush.
So why choose 1 over the other?
Cost is a major factor and we all want value for money.
The old style Geberit 8000 used to be more expensive than the Closomat but things have changed and the price for both units is almost the same, subject to add on for the Closomat
In basic terms the Closomat Palma Vita is priced at the lowest it can be. Then you add the activation components and height changes and sensors and and and…..
The Geberit Meracare come with all the Bells & Whistles and the end user gets to choose what they want to use now and in the future.
Of course both companies will say there wash dry toilet is better than the competition and honestly both would be correct as both toilets have features that are slightly different from each other.
Example: Pro, Closomat has a strong warm water discharge and will always clean well
Con: The warm water discharge doesn’t last long and will then run cold
Con: The warm water discharge cannot be adjusted by the end user.
Pro: Geberit has a continuous warm water discharge that heats continuously.
Con, Not as powerful as a Closomat discharge but does oscillate back & forward.
Pro: Closomat has a seat height adjustment from 442mm to 542mm with 25mm adjustment
Con: only 25mm adjustment can be made via a spacer at the base of the pan.
Pro: Geberit has a seat height adjustment from 440mm to 560mm and it’s a sliding height range so any height in-between can be archived.
Con, The Geberit does not come standard with a lid, (optional extra).
The Pro’s & Con’s mentioned above are only a small selection of basic features that both Geberit & Closomat have to offer and there are many small yet important features to both the Geberit and Closomat that will suit many different client’s needs. The answer to having the correct wash dry toilet for today’s use and future use will be to ask lots of questions from both company representatives.
It’s the small things that make the difference. This could be the after sales for servicing and repairs or the warranty from the manufacture but my advice would always be to go with the client’s needs now and for future use.
