Application

The Hammock sling provides maximum support to the sacral area and is used in cases where the Universal Sling is unsuitable because the individual has poor lower body tone.  It can be used to transfer from the seated to recumbent position or from recumbent to seated.  The person must be assessed by a competent person who must be fully trained in the suitability, application and fitting of the sling.  Carers should always be trained in the use of hoists and slings.

This sling is usually used in a divided leg position however can be used in a cross over position for amputees or other people following an accurate risk assessment.  The Child to the Large size sling has a max Load of 200Kg. Hammock Sling - Material Variants

Polyslip -         The sling is made from a close knit polyester material and has nylon rip stop material to the outer side of the leg sections to aid the fitting of the sling. This is a general purpose sling and can be used for sitting and recumbent transfers between chairs, beds, floor, baths, changing beds, WC’s etc.

Built to order

Slipfit -      The sling is made from a nylon rip stop (parachute style) material and has been designed to be easily fitted and removed. It is especially suited to situations where the client has limited ability to be moved to aid fitting the sling i.e. tight fitting chairs. This is a general purpose sling that can be used as the Poly, but cannot be used in a bath as it will retain water around the client when being hoisted.

Black Spacer -     The sling is made from knitted polyester “spacer” fabric that is manufactured with an ‘air gap’ internally. The material stretches slightly in all directions and moulds perfectly to the shape of the person being hoisted. This is a general purpose sling that can be used as the Poly, but has the added benefit of being suitable to be left in position if required (subject to risk assessment and monitoring of pressure risks).

Mesh -       The sling is made from a polyester net material and has a non-absorbent foam in the leg sections. The inner surface of the leg sections has close knit polyester covering for patient comfort. This sling is designed specifically for bathing and can be left in place whilst the person is being bathed /showered.

Head Supports

The Hammock sling comes in 3 head support options.

1/2 shaped head support - full shaped head support and taped head support. The head support on a hammock is a customisation and the type of head support must be specified.

The tables show the availability for the specific head support that is standard for the material variant i.e. Polyslip has a full shaped head support as a stock sling and the mesh and spacer slings have a taped head support as the stock sling.

If the sling is ordered with a style of head support that differs from the head support assigned to the standard sling, then there will be an up charge of £50 as it will be a built to order sling.

CUSTOMISED AND SPECIAL SLINGS WILL REQUIRE AN ON SITE FULL ASSESSMENT BY A REPRESENTATIVE FROM EASY CARE SYSTEM. ALL ASSESSMENTS WILL BE SUBJECT TO AREA RESTRICTIONS.
